Career Conference 2012

This past weekend marked my third Mary Kay career conference. For someone who has never attended or been part of the Mary Kay world or a seasoned beauty consultant, it's a great place to renew your spirits, meet great people and build great supports.  For new consultants it can open their eyes to the possibilities and a bigger picture of what a Mary Kay career can bring.

This year's theme was You Can Do It. There is always a lot to take in during this 1 and a half day of conference and certain thing will stand out for different people so I will share the highlights with you.

It's Time to Team up for Women again!

Mary Kay believed that it was better to give than to receive and created the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation (MKACF) to support issues near and dear to her.    In Canada, the foundation has been in existence since 2001.  Check out my MKACF to learn more.

Proceeds collected through the MKACF are contributed to 2 key areas.

• To support women living with cancer by contributing to programs such as the Look Good Feel Better® program.
• To stop the incidence of violence against women by offering financial support to women's shelters and other projects and grass roots organizations that are committed to this issue. 

Everyone can make a difference, help me team up for women!

Happy International Women's Day

Every year around March 8 is International Women's Day.  International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration to honour women, their accomplishments, their contributions to society and their legacy. In different parts of the world, the focus of the celebrations range from demonstrating respect, appreciation and love toward women, to honouring women's economic, political and social achievements.

Winter Escape

Over the winter months, many living in the Northern hemisphere will look to traveling to the south for a little warm and fun in the sun.  Popular choices are all inclusive fun in the sun resorts such as Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cancun.  Some will head to Asia for some adventure and discovery.  Myself and hubby headed to Singapore and Indonesia for some R and R and quality family time.

Regardless of where you decide to go, here are some tips of how to keep your skin stress free and you looking great for all the holiday photos that you will take while traveling light.  

From One Valentine to another Valentine

Yesterday was Chinese Valentine's Day and I celebrated it with my fellow Mary Kay Sisters and our families and friends as a fantastic Lunar Year Banquet.  Chinese Valentines day occurs on the fifteenth day of the new year and so it differs from year to year based on the lunar calendar.

Cupid's Bow: Valentines gift options

I was in the chocolate store the other day and was talking to the saleslady about the Valentine's promotions that the store was running.  She mentioned to me that getting Valentine's gifts for a lady is easy: flowers, chocolates and jewelry should  do the trick.

Perhaps, I'm not the typical lady and these things really don't do it for me.  Perhaps some of you can relate to me. 

You don’t need a special day or month to show someone that you care about them and appreciate them.   Tell them often and mean it truly each and every time you say so.  Show it in your actions.  It's not about how much you spend but the sentiment behind the gift that speaks volumes.
